Fitted sliding wardrobes are one of the best wardrobes to choose when it comes to optimsing storage. Here at Design Haus Bedrooms, with plenty of different wardrobe interior solutions to choose from, the opportunities for storage are almost endless. House decluttering may or may not be one of your New Year’s Resolutions. However, freshening up your sliding wardrobe is a great way to enter the new year with a clear and tidy mind – and at the same time, you can make space for any new items you have (or are planning to buy!) Decluttering your wardrobe can be time-consuming and overwhelming if you don’t approach the task in the right way. As one of the country’s leading designers of fitted sliding wardrobes, we want you to achieve the most from your wardrobe, so we have put together a guide to creating a clean, visually appealing, and easy-to-manage sliding wardrobe.
Establish What You Are Working With
Gather your bags/baskets/boxes – any supplies you will be using to organise the sections with. Once you have the storage for every category you will be sorting your items into, you can take everything out and create a visual of what you are needing to sort. Putting all of the clothes either onto the bed or the floor will make the task more digestible. Once everything is out of your wardrobe, you can separate the clothes into three different piles to begin with; essentials, occasionwear, and clothes which are out of season.
Determine Your “Yes” Pile
Start with the clothes that you know you will definitely be keeping, and then put those back into your wardrobe in the most accessible area. Your “yes” pile will likely include the clothes that you frequently have worn in the past year as well as any essentials that are regularly incorporated into outfits. This is usually the easiest step, however if you have an item that is not regularly worn, but that you are not ready to throw away yet, start a separate pile – this will be your “maybe” pile which you will come back to later.
Start Your “No” Pile
This part of the process can be one of the trickiest – understandably it can be hard to commit to parting with an item of clothing. However, it is important to remember that decluttering your wardrobe can help to reduce stress and keep your wardrobe offering you the highest levels of ease and organisation.
To help you determine whether an item should be kept or discarded, you should ask yourself:
- Does the item fit?
- Have I worn this item in the past year?
- Will I wear this item next year?
\If the majority of your answers are “no” then the item should go into the “no” and you should apply the same principle. You can assess your items in this pile to determine what to do with these clothes – you could even sell them or donate them to charity. In order to sort out your “maybe” pile, you should apply the same questions above to these items too.
